Open Source Benefits for ISVs

In my previous blog post, I introduced the Test Automation Platform (TAP) Project, an open source project that is currently under review by the Eclipse Foundation.  As a small independent software vendor (ISV), we have come to realize the benefits that open source initiatives can provide to small companies such as Fanfare, especially when dealing with large enterprise customers.

This week I published an article on the “Open Source Business Resource” site that takes a closer look at the benefits of open source platforms for ISVs.  The article focuses on six main benefits:
  • Platforms Instead of SDKs
  • Collaboration
  • Thinking Ahead
  • Cross-Platform
  • More Credibility with Customers
  • Less Code to Develop

I encourage you to read the full article to learn more about each of these benefits.

In the coming year, you can expect to see us take an active role in supporting open source initiatives in conjunction with our product development plans.
